Healthy Futures COVID, May Update

healthy futures

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has released new guidelines for those who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, saying those who have been vaccinated can resume public activities without wearing a face mask. We have been relying on guidance from the CDC – among other public health agencies – from the beginning of the pandemic, and so we want to clarify our mask-wearing policies.

Healthy Futures patients who are fully vaccinated may have individual sessions with their providers without a mask, but only if this has been agreed upon by both patient and provider.

Beyond this, we are remaining with our policy of requiring mask-wearing in our facility, except during meal experiences. We wanted to give our patients some notice so that we all had a heads up and can orient to the new policies.

We realize this might seem dissimilar to the CDC’s new guidelines, but the new guidelines also explain that health facilities that care for patients who may include people both vaccinated and unvaccinated, wearing face masks is still a proven way to reduce the possibility of spreading the virus. Thus, for now, we are continuing with that policy.

We continue looking with optimism to our future and are making plans to transition to mask-free in-person programming. For adult IOP groups, we would like to add this option for vaccinated patients as of June 1, 2021, and for adolescent IOP groups, we have a tentative start date of July 1, 2021 (allowing time for all 12 and older teens to become vaccinated if their family chooses). All patients will be asked to follow the current CDC guidelines according to their vaccination status. We will keep all patients, staff, and team members fully informed as we continue adjusting our policies.
