Eating Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program (EDIOP) for Adults

Healthy Futures Eating Disorders Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is for any adult struggling with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, or any form of “disordered eating” where the person’s life is negatively affected by consistent thoughts and/or actions surrounding food, body, and weight.

We also offer separate IOPs for teens struggling with eating issues, and for people who have challenges with Emotional Eating.

Healthy Futures’ Eating Disorders IOP includes nutrition education, meal planning, group therapy, family education and support, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training.

What to Expect

In our IOP you will learn correct, non-diet-based nutrition information, and new life skills and coping skills to use instead of relying on the eating disorder.

Most important, patients enjoy support from others who understand, and they learn how to decrease the eating disorder’s power in their lives.

A psychosocial assessment and written medical permission from your physician is required to participate in our Eating Disorder IOP and Emotional Eating IOP.

All of our staff are Masters Level Professionals or higher, and all have had experience helping others in eating disorder and mental health programs. We have a dietitian, psychologist, coach, social worker, counselor, and exercise specialist to help.

We look forward to helping you have a healthy future!

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I am a good candidate for an IOP?

Our comprehensive mental health assessment will guide us in determining whether our program is a best fit, or whether a different level of treatment might be most helpful. It all begins with an easy phone call to (480) 451-8500.

Is an Eating Disorder IOP covered by insurance?

Insurance plans vary greatly, but generally speaking, if your health insurance includes coverage for mental health, it likely will cover our IOP. Our administrative staff are experts at helping you understand your coverage and are happy to answer your insurance questions.

What insurances does Healthy Futures accept?

We accept all major commercial insurances for eating disorder IOPs. We also accept some insurance plans for our General Mental Health IOP. We also accept BlueCross/BlueShield Arizona and Aetna for individual counseling and nutrition services.

Should I talk with a loved one who I believe may have an eating disorder?

Yes, you can talk to them. Wait for a time when they are not in the middle of a struggle. Ask them if you can honestly share your concern with them and let them know you are coming from a place of concern, and not wanting to change them. You could say, “I’ve noticed some changes in your behaviors. Are you struggling in some way? If so, how can I help?”
