Minute of Mindfulness with Mia – On The Beach

November 11, 2024

Bienvenido un otro con Minuto de Mindfulness con Mia!

I’m on vacation in Mexico and I have been trying to speak Spanish. Today’s topic for mindfulness is and a big part of DBT is, “Avoid avoiding.”

A big counter to that is to ‘try’ and in Spanish that is, “intentar”. So we’re going to talk about, “puedo intentar,” meaning “I can try.” Think about what you may be avoiding or just being comfortable staying the same.

“Puedo intentar”. Give yourself that mantra. “I can try. How can I try to do it different? How can I try to challenge myself?”

Maybe to talk Spanish when it’s more comfortable to talk in English or whatever your version of this is.

I hope you enjoyed today’s topic, “puedo intentar!”

What is ARFID and how can it help children who suffer from eating disorders?

Often, the children who suffer from ARFID experience a choking sensation from the smells or the feeling of certain foods in their mouths. Vomiting is also not unusual. The experience of these sensations leads to the child avoiding or restricting certain foods. Malnutrition then becomes an issue with this disorder.
